I had the pleasure of joining my friends and fellow cartoonists Angelo Lopez and John Auchter in a long conversation that covered everything from the future cartooning during a second Trump administration to Midwestern politics and religion. (Click here to watch the video.)
Angelo, a cartoonist based in Silicon Valley, has drawn cartoons for various papers in California, and also publishes cartoons through Cartoon Movement. His work in both the Philippines and in the Filipino-American community has often highlighted the dangers of authoritarianism. Angelo has interviewed many of my cartoonist friends and colleagues, which you can find on YouTube.
John is the cartoonist for Michigan Public radio. His work is also published by various newspapers across Michigan. John’s cartoons, much like John himself, are as thoughtful as they are funny and informative. John also has the dubious honor of being the incoming 2025 vice president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists. (I am the outgoing AAEC vice president, having served since 2023. I will be continuing to serve the AAEC in a different capacity starting next year, but that’s a story for a later time.)

Excellent!
I’m listening to the cartoonists chatting as I go about my day. Thank you for I introducing me to your friends, Kevin. Laughter really is the best medicine right now.
