September roughs
Sketches you didn't see

For every cartoon I draw there are usually 3-5 rough sketches you don’t see. I publish those sketches, along with commentary, for paid subscribers over at Pepperspectives. I want to (try to) start posting the roughs here, sans commentary, at the end of each month.
I try to draw these roughs in 20 minutes or less. They don’t need to be perfect. They just have to get the general idea across. Often I find that I like the roughs better than the finished cartoons.
Help me keep the lights on and the cartoons flowing. Consider becoming a paid subscriber to Kevin’s UnNecessary Things. Your support allows me to draw more cartoons and speak truth to power. You can also support me by leaving me a one-time tip on Ko-fi, or by clicking here to visit my Etsy store, where you can purchase signed prints of my cartoons.

These are so good. I get liking the roughs better than the final as the fresh line work usually captures the energy until one “cleans it up.” But you still capture it all. We are in an upside down world right now and you’ve captured so many snapshots. Btw, I spoke with a Cincinnati friend who lives in Portland right near the ICE center. She confirmed it is not at all a war zone.
