Journalist arrests
You need to be angrier than you already are
Independent journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort were arrested by the Trump regime for covering an anti-ICE protest January 18 at a church in St. Paul, Minnesota. Lemon, a former CNN anchor who now hosts his own YouTube show, is a high-profile critic of the Trump regime. Both Lemon and Fort should be protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. But Trump has little regard for freedom of the press, and like all petty tyrants he aims to squash independent reporting. Tyrants fear factual information, and Trump is no different.
In solidarity with Lemon, Fort, and other journalists who have been targeted by the Trump regime, Marc Murphy, president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists, released the following statement about this egregious violation of the First Amendment. (Full disclosure: I am both an AAEC member and the AAEC’s Minister of Information.)
