We are in a constitutional crisis. Or, possibly, we’re in something even worse. The Trump administration continues to defy lower court orders meant to give the judicial system time to review whether the blitzkrieg of deportations being carried out is legal. Worse, Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act, meant to be a wartime measure, as a way to further consolidate power and as a means to deport a wider swath of people.

Trump goons such as noted xenophobe Stephen Miller are loudly declaring Trump to be above the law. With Congress all but abdicating its power to Trump, and with the administration testing the waters to curb free speech and dissent, we find ourselves in perhaps the most dangerous moment in American history.
