Donald Trump and his MAGA goons have yet again manufactured a crisis where no crisis existed. Even though crime rates in Washington, DC, have fallen in recent years, Trump has trumped up a fake crime emergency as pretense to deploy National Guard troops to our nation’s capital. This is just another part of TACO Don’s plan to assert authoritarian control over the United States. We must stand against fascism just as we did 80 years ago.
Friends, it’s been a week. The school year has started, which means I’m again teaching at Northern Kentucky University. The Association of American Editorial Cartoonists’ 2025 convention is less than a month away, and I’m helping finalize the confab. There are cartoons and a comic and a (very long-overdue) book to draw. And I totally forgot to post last week’s cartoon on Substack.

It's hard to believe that it is lawful for governors to just send their guards to D.C. Ohio, Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina and Tennessee should keep their National Guard Units at home.
